Kumon China Environmental Protection Report (2025–2026)

From April 2025 to March 2026, KUMON China consistently advanced its commitment to environmentally responsible operations. By systematically integrating energy conservation, paper reduction, resource circularity, and waste segregation into daily workflows, KUMON China actively fulfills its corporate social responsibility. The organization recognizes environmental performance as a critical benchmark of operational quality and a cornerstone of its journey toward a sustainable future.

  1. Energy Conservation and Emissions Reduction

To reduce daily operational energy consumption, KUMON China prioritizes energy-efficient appliances and natural light.

  • Operational Protocols: Lighting, air conditioning, computers, monitors, printers, photocopiers, water dispensers, shredders, and other equipment are switched off when not in use.
  • Logistics Optimization: Warehouses also make use of natural ventilation to shorten air-conditioning operating time.

The company will continue to encourage each office to use electricity according to actual needs, making energy conservation a basic requirement of daily operations.

  1. Digital Transformation and Paper Management

KUMON China actively mitigates resource consumption by replacing traditional, paper-based workflows with digital alternatives, including electronic handouts, digital filing systems, and e-signatures. When printing is unavoidable, the following rigorous resource-efficiency measures are enforced:

  • Pre-Print Verification: Digital previews are mandatory to ensure accuracy and prevent redundant prints.
  • Volume Control: Document production is strictly restricted to the precise quantities required, utilizing double-sided printing as a standard default.
  • Repurposing and Recycling: Every office maintains a dedicated station for single-sided paper reuse; blank segments are converted into note paper, while paper that has reached the end of its lifecycle is securely shredded and channeled into recycling streams.

    1. Resource Circularity and Lifecycle Extension

To minimize waste and eliminate unnecessary procurement, KUMON China extends the service life of office assets and materials through proactive reuse and responsible asset management:

  • Material Reuse: Logistics cartons, packing materials, roll-up banners, tablecloths, furniture, appliances, and stationery in serviceable condition are systematically reused.
  • Consumable Management: Empty waste-toner containers are properly managed and processed to extend the operational lifespan of printer consumables.
  • E-Waste Management: Outdated or redundant electrical appliances are transferred to certified professional organizations for compliant, eco-friendly recycling.

    1. Waste Segregation, Reduction, and Local Initiatives

KUMON China strictly implements waste segregation and provides separate collection according to the types of recyclable materials. It also reduces the use of disposable paper cups, plastic cups, tableware, and chopsticks.

Kumon Guangdong Office: the office launched a “KUMON Old Friends” campaign on Xiaohongshu. They chose to use digital vouchers instead of traditional paper ones.

KUMON Hong Kong: Spearheaded a targeted red-packet recycling campaign. After the Lunar New Year, KUMON Hong Kong organized a “Red Packet Recycling” campaign, encourage colleagues to recycle reusable red packets, which were subsequently donated to environmental organizations for reuse.

  1. Cultivating an Environmental Workplace Culture

Environmental stewardship is deeply embedded within the workplace culture across all KUMON China offices.
  • Green Spaces: Staff collectively cultivate and maintain indoor green plants, utilizing leftover tea in appropriate volumes for watering.

  • Awareness Building: Continuous internal communications, strengthen eco-awareness, empowering employees to sustain green habits daily and ensuring that environmental responsibility is shared by all.

  1. Corporate Commitment and Strategic Outlook

Guided by the principle of continuous improvement, KUMON China mandates that all personnel integrate environmental considerations into daily business operations and future event planning. Moving forward, the organization will continuously audit its consumption of energy, paper, and disposable items to sustain and scale its environmental initiatives. Through defined accountabilities and persistent action, KUMON China will further optimize resource efficiency and champion sustainable development through concrete corporate practice.
